Systems Engineer I, II, III

Position Location(s):  Ft. Meade, MD

Position Description: 

Evaluates, develops and delivers technical input to the systems engineering process; Develops technical documentation, system architecture, and system design documentation;  Interacts with the Government regarding Systems Engineering technical considerations and for associated problems, issues, or conflicts; Oversees the technical integrity of work performed and deliverables associated with the Systems Engineering area of responsibility; Communicates with other program personnel, government overseers, and senior executives

Systems Engineer - Level I

  • Performs requirements analysis for systems missions and environments to identify functional definitions and design for system hardware and software
  • Analyzes user’s requirements, develops concept of operations documents, high level system architectures, and system requirements specifications
  • Guides users in formulating requirements, advises alternative approaches, and conducts feasibility studies; provides technical leadership for the integration of requirements, design, and technology; incorporates new plans, designs, and systems into ongoing operations
  • Defines performance and design constraints, develops specifications, drawings, and product description data
  • Possesses knowledge of engineering policies and procedures
  • Conducts engineering research and analysis
  • Organizes works to ensure tasking, projects, and assignments are completed according to deadlines
  • Contributes to the development of sections of IT and telecommunications systems
  • Performs system integration, system administration, or network engineering tasks
  • Keyboard, Video, MouseInternet Small Computer System Interface
  • Exhibits demonstrated work delivery in areas such as IT and telecommunications systems
  • Performs tasks in IT and telecommunications projects in at least (2) two of the following areas: Windows or Linux server system administration (e.g.,2K3, 2K8, various Linux flavors), integrating GOTS/COTS/open-source solutions, virtualization technology experience (e.g., VMWare, Zen, Citrix, KVM), networking and TCP/IP protocols (e.g., CISCO, Juniper), storage technologies (e.g., SAN, NAS, Fiber Channel, iSCSI, NFS), remote access (e.g., Juniper SSL VPN), or other IT infrastructure technologies.

Qualifications: Minimum two (2) years of experience as a System Engineer. Experience in infrastructure engineering is preferred. Bachelor’s Degree or higher from an accredited college or university in System Engineering or related discipline. At a minimum DoD 8570 IAM Level I Information Assurance Certification is required. Current TS/SCI and CI Polygraph.

Systems Engineer - Level II

  • Analyzes system requirements and leads design and development activities
  • Conducts briefings to a variety of audiences and conveys information in a clear and articulate manner
  • Performs thorough engineering analysis and quick issue resolution simultaneously
  • Works both independently and as part of a team to identify problems and develop solutions in accordance with USCYBERCOM and Defense regulatory guidance
  • Prioritizes and manages multiple tasks to ensure timely project completion

Qualifications: Minimum five (5) years of experience as a System Engineer. Three (3) years of experience in infrastructure engineering is preferred. Bachelor’s Degree or higher from an Accredited college or university in System Engineering, related discipline; a Master’s Degree may be substituted for one (1) year of relevant experience. At a minimum, DoD 8570 IASAE Level II Certification is required. Current TS/SCI and CI Polygraph.

Systems Engineer - Level III

  • Guides system development and implementation planning through assessment or preparation of system engineering management plans and system integration and test plans
  • Analyzes complex information, and independently takes appropriate actions to resolve problems
  • Provides engineering guidance to technical staff and establishes effective working relationships with other Government agencies and mission partners
  • Delivers briefings on complex topics to groups, which may include high-level decision makers
  • Works complex research projects as senior contributors and as part of an integrated research team
  • Designs and delivers solutions

Qualifications: Minimum ten (10) years of experience as a System Engineer. Seven (7) years of experience in infrastructure engineering is preferred. Bachelor’s Degree or higher from an accredited college or university in System Engineering or related discipline; a Master’s Degree may be substituted for two (2) years of relevant experience. At a minimum, DoD 8570 IASAE Level II Certification is required. Current TS/SCI and CI Polygraph.
