Operator Training Specialist

Position Location(s):  Charleston, SC

Position Description: CommIT is seeking a Training Specialist experienced with the maintenance and configuration of MACCS family of systems and units (CTN, CAC2S, CAC2S Afloat, TBMCS, AFATDS). This position will be part of a maintainer training team that will analyze, design, develop, implement, evaluate, support, and manage the PM AC2SN portfolio training products. Additionally, this position will provide technical and analytical support, instructional support, and deliver New Equipment Training, Delta Training, On-Site Familiarization Training, and Over-the-shoulder Refresher Training for the PM AC2SN portfolio.


  • Analyze, design, and develop new training curriculum and documentation
  • Review, analyze, and update existing training curriculum and documentation, as needed
  • Identify instructional goals, analyze the target audience, and select the delivery mechanisms for effective training
  • Include communication mechanisms throughout the design and development of training that keeps the content engaging and collaborative
  • Implement Systems Approach to Training standards in training documentation and materials to achieve a consistent look and feel in the materials provided
  • Ensure all developed training material is in compliance with MIL-HDBK-29612/2A, Instructional Systems Development/Systems Approach to Training and Education and NAVMC 1553.1A, Systems Approach to Training and Education Handbook
  • Support the development of training videos that will be used to support and/or enhance on the job performance and unit sustainment training
  • Support the development or update of existing training test packages for each maintainer course of instruction
  • Support the development or update of existing master lesson files for each maintainer course of instruction
  • Conduct dry-runs, rehearsals, and technical reviews of instructional deliver to minimize training session interruptions in preparation for live training delivery
  • Conduct AC2SN training courses consisting of various instructional methods including lecture, demonstration, and practical application
  • Conduct AC2SN training course utilizing multiple training techniques and tools with various media with multiple student skill levels and class sizess

Experience and Education:

  • Five (5) years’ work experience with AC2SN portfolio of systems. Three (3) years of instructor and/or analyst experience supporting USMC systems
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related scientific or technical discipline from an accredited college of university (or) additional four (4) years of USMC training experience, in lieu of bachelor’s degree
  • Previously designated Senior Instructor per MAWTS-1 C3 Course Catalog or other Formal School Instructor
  • Previously certified as a Joint Interface Control Officer
  • Experience and knowledge of operating within a Sensor Netting System
  • Experience as a Senior Air Director or Crew Chief
  • Previously certified as a MAWTS-1 C3 WTI
  • Previously designated as a radar watch supervisor
  • Experience as an Approach/Arrival Controller and Final Controller
  • Must have strong interpersonal and client-facing skills
  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills

Clearance Level: Secret
